Sharing boards
Everyone who joins a board can arrange it and invite others. Workspace permissions still control access to tasks. Joining a board doesn’t grant access to its workspaces.
Invite someone
- Open the board’s Settings and find Sharing.
- Enter the person’s Tapestry username or email, then click Invite. They need an existing Tapestry account.
- They can follow the email invitation or open Boards → Manage and click Join board under Invitations.
Invitations expire after seven days and can only be accepted by the person invited. To withdraw one, choose Cancel invitation under Pending invitations.
If someone can’t find Boards in their sidebar, they can turn on Boards [Beta] in Appearance settings.
What collaborators share
Everyone shares the board’s name, column names, and collaborator list. Everyone can change the board’s setup, invite people, and delete or restore the board. There is no separate board-manager role.
Each person can add or remove workspaces they have access to. Those changes affect the shared board. They see cards only from workspaces they can access, and can move or edit a card only if their workspace role allows it.
Two people can therefore see different cards on the same board. Workspaces and tasks a person can’t access aren’t shown to them.
A team board
Dana makes a Delivery board from the Engineering and Design workspaces and invites the team. Everyone can help arrange its columns. A colleague who can view Design but can’t edit it can read its cards, but can’t move them.
If Dana leaves, the other collaborators keep using the board. They don’t need to transfer ownership.
A board with a friend
You and a friend each add a personal workspace to a Weekend board. You share the layout, but each sees only their own tasks. To work on the same cards, share the relevant workspace too.
Leave or delete
Use Settings → Leave board to remove yourself. Other collaborators keep the board, and you need another invitation to return. Workspaces you’ve added stay attached.
Use Settings → Delete board to remove the board for everyone. Tasks and labels stay in their workspaces. Any collaborator can use Undo immediately, or restore the board for 30 days:
- Open Boards → Manage.
- Expand Recently deleted.
- Click Restore beside the board before the date shown.
Deleting a board cancels pending invitations. After restoring it, send new invitations to anyone who hadn’t joined yet.
If you’re the last collaborator, delete the board instead of leaving to keep the option to restore it.
